Scholarship Broadens Participation at TechEX24 and Supports Career Growth for Women IT Professionals in Research and Education

Excitement is buzzing for the 2024 Technology Exchange (TechEX24) being held December 9-13 in Boston, Mass! As part of the event, we are thrilled to once again be able to offer the Internet2 Inclusivity (I2I) Scholarship.

The I2I Scholarship continues to strive to  increase the participation of women at Internet2 annual events, help them engage within and across the research and education (R&E) community, and support them in growing their professional networks. One addition to the I2I Scholarship recipients’ experience this year is the option to participate in the TechEX24 Poster Session. This affords them a great opportunity to further engage with community members, share about a project they or their institution/organization is working on, and further develop their presenting skills.

The deadline to apply or nominate a woman for the TechEX24 I2I Scholarship process is September 20 at 5 p.m. PT. Don’t delay!

“I enjoyed attending a wide variety of sessions in different tracks, as I found this to be valuable for learning and growing in areas that I’m not as involved in during my day-to-day tasks. Aside from the wealth of information, I found one of the most valuable aspects of the conference to be the sense of community. The conference really brought together a larger sense of community across the country and even a few other countries across the world.”

— Jessica Krause, IT Reporting Analyst at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and 2023 I2I Scholarship Recipient

“It was incredible to have an opportunity to network with other professional women in the IT field from diverse backgrounds and varying areas of technology. It is important we create allies and more recruitment opportunities while closing the gender gap and racial disparities for women IT professionals!”

— Stephania Oates, Unified Communications Manager at Fayetteville State University and 2023 I2I Scholarship Recipient

The I2I Scholarship provides full financial support to attend an annual conference. Recipients are also paired with community colleagues from across the R&E community, have the opportunity to engage with international Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC) Fellows and Women in Networking at SC (WINS) attendees, and attend a wide variety of sessions that offer something for new learners as well as more experienced professionals. The experience is a gateway to future professional opportunities such as participation in community working groups, participation in future I2I activities – including as a mentor for scholarship recipients or as a member of the I2I Steering Committee – as well as collaborative opportunities with other organizations.
